Risborough Area Community Bus News

Thanks for a £500 Award

Written by Graeme Roberts on .

We are very grateful to Tesco for awarding us £500 from their Tesco Bags of Help COVID-19 Communities Fund.

After our normal service had to be suspended in March, we have since joined a Princes Risborough Town Council scheme called The Risborough Basket. The scheme helps Risborough High Street businesses to keep going via home delivery, whilst also supplying essential items including bread, meat, fruit and vegetables to those in need, in and around Risborough.

Tesco’s Bags of Help Communities Fund is specifically aimed at organisations like us, to help us change and adapt to serve our local community in a different way under the current circumstances.

We are now using The Bus, driven by many of our regular volunteer drivers, to deliver items from shops in the High Street to folk in the outlying villages. This has been a lifeline to many living in the villages and we now deliver to Longwick, Saunderton Lee and Saunderton Vale, Bledlow Village and Bledlow Ridge, Speen and North Dean, Lacey Green and Loosley Row. We hope to expand if we can.

We are really grateful to Tesco for their generosity.
