The 22 individual cut brick chimneys distinguish the manor house and are echoed throughout the estate village. From the picturesque village green, a private gravel drive leads invitingly up to the Manor House. Immediately outside the gates is the church of St. Michael, together with the private Bedford Chapel. The front gates open into the Inner Court, leading to the house and gardens.

Once a chalk quarry, College Lake is now one of the Berks, Bucks & Oxon Wildlife Trust’s flagship nature reserves. The transformation is a fantastic example of what people passionate about wildlife can bring about through a shared vision and sheer determination. Thanks to the hard work of BBOWT staff and volunteers, this thriving nature reserve now supports more than 1,000 different wildlife species. An eco visitor centre with stunning views of the lakes opened to the public in 2010.

Situated on the A4 near Twyford, this Centre has a long horticultural history; it began life in the 1800s as Wargrave Plant Farm and was acquired by the Waterer family in 1914. They planted great swathes of plants and trees along the A4, which became known as the ‘Floral Mile’, specialised in growing rare rhododendrons from America and, in the 60s, planted the rose garden at Windsor Castle, earning themselves a Royal Warrant. Half a century later, the centre is still flourishing and sells top quality growing stock, gardening products and garden furniture as well as birdcare products, floristry, houseplants and books.

Hughenden ManorHughenden Manor offers a vivid insight into the charismatic personality and colourful private life of the most unlikely Victorian Prime Minister, Benjamin Disraeli, who lived here from 1848 to 1881. You can browse an extraordinary collection of personal memorabilia and there are hands-on activities for children. Hughenden’s secret wartime past is revealed in the Second World War room in the cellars, with interactive exhibits and eye-witness accounts. The formal garden has been recreated based on the original designs of Mary Anne Disraeli and there are beautiful woodland walks surrounding this fascinating country home.

The Garden Centre is situated on the edge of Marlow on the road to Bourne End. It is a traditional horticultural centre that prides itself on plant quality and value for money.
It offers a wide range of products and facilities including a large restaurant and a children’s soft play area. It also hosts many gardening and seasonal events throughout the year. there is also an excellent farm shop.
In 2009 the land was quite literally a field with some rusting farm machinery abandoned in the margins. This blank canvas has allowed Jim and Helen to build a farm that encompasses their core values, a process that is still going on today. We have now opened our farm shop featuring products from our farm as well as those selected from other local producers. Come and visit us on the farm and get your Meat, Vegetables, Bread, Eggs, Flour, Cereals, Cheese and much more.

Waterperry Gardens are a magical place where you are surrounded by beautiful trees, shrubs and flowers, classical borders, modern planting, secret corners and long vistas. Home to the renowned horticultural college between 1932 and 1971, the emphasis was on food production rather than spectacular ornamental gardens. Over the past twenty years, the gardens have developed and grown, and many new projects have been undertaken and completed. You’ll now find a Formal Garden, the Mary Rose Garden, a Waterlily Canal and the Long Colour Border, and we recently planted a small arboretum in the meadow area beyond the canal.

Wendover Woods is a 325 hectare open access woodland site managed by the Forestry Commission. It is situated on the edge of the Chilterns escarpment. Wendover Woods has year-round interest, from beautiful displays of bluebells in the spring to barbecues and picnics in the summer followed by swathes of autumn colours as the trees turn and crisp winter walks. In quieter areas, you can watch woodland birds, including the rare firecrest if you’re lucky and you may see deer. There is also archaeological interest in the form of Boddington hillfort and the Woods contain the highest point in the Chilterns (267m).
